- approach: Oshin was born and raised in Jamaica. At age 5 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor which left her with a traumatic brain injury. In 2011 she moved to the United States to live with her mother in Asheville North Carolina. Oshin attended Open Hearts Art Center in 2013 having very little exposure to the arts. She immediately began expressing her culture with vibrant colors, patterns and imagery. Oshin is Open Hearts Art Center most prolific artists to date. She creates paintings based on images from her past or found images in art history books and magazines. She is particular drawn to figurative art creating characters from her imagination and everyday life. Recently Oshin has been drawn to art nouveau style. She attempts to replicate this style while adding her own unique twist of colors & patterns to the background.
